jury duty

The Punishment System How It Works: The number one rule of the captains is do not harm fellow crew members. The Moira doesn't have a strict environment, but that one rule is asked to be followed. What normally would result in hold time, the captains believe is no longer enough to keep crew from harming one another. This has brought about the creation of the punishment system. The rules are simple. If you physically injure another crew member or murder them, you are required to comment to this page using the form below. You will be asked to pick three different punishments from the stages below, each vary in how extreme they are, and to put those punishments into the comment you make using the form. From the date that you post here until three days later, players will be allowed to respond to your comment with a vote. This vote is what their character believes is a worthy punishment for the crime committed. The captains will not vote unless there is a tie. ICly: A MID message will be sent out detailing the events; it will have an attachment of the footage (only in the case of a murder, all other events will not show footage) with it. Crew members will be asked to seek out the captains in the mess hall and relay their vote as to the offenders punishment. Currently, a new system is in the works. Find out more here. The Three Stages Category One: ☄ Three to five days in the hold ☄ One month of latrine cleaning duty ☄ Two month of laundry duty ☄ Create your own Category Two: ☄ One of the above punishments and a loss of two ranks ☄ Off-ship privileges revoked: One week and a loss of two ranks ☄ Off-ship privileges revoked: Two weeks and a loss of two ranks ☄ Create your own Category Three: ☄ Solitary confinement: Three days ☄ Solitary confinement: One week ☄ Solitary confinement: One week plus a reset to Incipen ☄ Create your own List of Current/Past Offenders: ☄ Sans ![]() ☄ Adrian Clark ![]() ☄ Chara ![]() ☄ Peter ![]() ☄ Alice Quinn ![]() ☄ Rinzler ![]() ☄ Tarn ![]() Punishment Form: |

Characters Involved: Sans
Details: After learning of Chara's presence and activities on the ship (specifically the near murder of his brother), Sans met Chara on the observation deck with the intent of convincing them to leave the Moira with the other refugees once they arrived. He made it clear that this was not a request, and Chara did not take kindly to this show of force.
Chara attacked Sans with a screwdriver and the resulting altercation ended in Sans killing Chara with his magic. While Chara finished the altercation very battered, Sans does not have a scratch on him (he's very good at dodging...). If asked, he has very little to say about what he did. He is not remorseful about killing Chara in the slightest, but very remorseful about causing anyone else pain because of it.
Though honestly, mostly he just doesn't really seem to care about anything, including what happens to him. Shrugs for everyone.
Threads: bad time log
Possible Punishments:
Category 1: Three to five days in the hold
Category 2: One of the above punishments and a loss of two ranks
Category 3: Solitary confinement: One week

But he isn't allowed to vote for no punishment, so he votes category 1. At least this way he can still visit him, right?

No vote from Rinzler's corner, and probably no actual commentary either, though he'll be watching to see how everyone else responds.

Category 2 - it's seems like self-defence to her and she'd have totally done the same thing, but there should be some longer lasting punishment for killing somebody than just a few days in the hold. Even if the remarkably murderous dead child is going to come back.
She's also going to suggest that trying to kill somebody should at least get Chara a visit to the counsellor. They have one of those and everything!

Category 1. Someone was going to die at the end of that and Sans shouldn't be punished for making sure it wasn't him. Also, he likes Sans and he doesn't operate on bias or anything like that at all.
Also Varric is not entirely aware Chara is going to come back. ohoho he's in for a surprise

Like Tali, she's going to suggest a counsellor visit — but for Sans, not Chara, since she doesn't know yet that they'll be coming back.

And 3rd(?)ing the suggestion for them both to see a councilor.

Ragnarok is going to loudly offer to kill Sans and eat his soul, which Crona will make sure Ragnarok doesn't do.

Category 3.

But the fact is that there's zero remorse on his part, and when asked he's given some flippant answers. Death isn't something that should be treated lightly, which Sans seems to be doing. This puts his motives in question to Pepper; how much was self-defense, and how much was revenge for what Chara attempted to do to Papyrus?
Beyond that, how they handle this sets the precedent for how such incidents are dealt with in the future, although this is a thought Pepper will keep to herself.
In the end she votes Category 3, and also agrees with everyone who says counseling for both Chara and Sans.
