The Punishment System

How It Works:

The number one rule of the captains is do not harm fellow crew members. The Moira doesn't have a strict environment, but that one rule is asked to be followed. What normally would result in hold time, the captains believe is no longer enough to keep crew from harming one another. This has brought about the creation of the punishment system.

The rules are simple. If you physically injure another crew member or murder them, you are required to comment to this page using the form below. You will be asked to pick three different punishments from the stages below, each vary in how extreme they are, and to put those punishments into the comment you make using the form. From the date that you post here until three days later, players will be allowed to respond to your comment with a vote. This vote is what their character believes is a worthy punishment for the crime committed. The captains will not vote unless there is a tie.

ICly: A MID message will be sent out detailing the events; it will have an attachment of the footage (only in the case of a murder, all other events will not show footage) with it. Crew members will be asked to seek out the captains in the mess hall and relay their vote as to the offenders punishment.

Currently, a new system is in the works. Find out more here.

Punishment Form:

Player: Em
Characters Involved: Sans [personal profile] skelepun | Chara [personal profile] heart_breaking

Details: After learning of Chara's presence and activities on the ship (specifically the near murder of his brother), Sans met Chara on the observation deck with the intent of convincing them to leave the Moira with the other refugees once they arrived. He made it clear that this was not a request, and Chara did not take kindly to this show of force.

Chara attacked Sans with a screwdriver and the resulting altercation ended in Sans killing Chara with his magic. While Chara finished the altercation very battered, Sans does not have a scratch on him (he's very good at dodging...). If asked, he has very little to say about what he did. He is not remorseful about killing Chara in the slightest, but very remorseful about causing anyone else pain because of it.

Though honestly, mostly he just doesn't really seem to care about anything, including what happens to him. Shrugs for everyone.

Threads: bad time log
Possible Punishments:

Category 1: Three to five days in the hold
Category 2: One of the above punishments and a loss of two ranks

Papyrus is so very disappointed in you both, and really, isn't that punishment enough?

But he isn't allowed to vote for no punishment, so he votes category 1. At least this way he can still visit him, right?

Since killing the abomination isn't an option, category 3.

STEVEN WANTS TO KNOW WHY HE DID IT FIRST. He will ask repeatedly phrasing it in different ways if necessary. He doesn't really understand but he feels like there must be a reason for it.

He can't vote until he knows more.

[Eh, he can't really fault Fenris for that one. Kinda wound up proving him right about the whole demon thing, no matter how far it is from the truth. That's unfortunate.]

[All attempts will get variations on the following, followed by laughter.]

[Wink. Wink. Get it? Hilarious.]

[Each time Sans brushes Steven off he will get more and more upset, and more desperate in how he asks it the next time, until he finally just ends up leaving the mess hall all together.

He will abstain from voting.]

[Frisk probably doesn't notice due to repeatedly jamming that RESET and nothing is happening and they don't know why.]

Category 1 because she understands needing to protect your family. And losing one's brother.

Tobias thinks it's stupid that they're even being called to vote at all on what sounds like a straightforward case of Sans defending himself and his brother, and would suggest that a few days in the hold is the only fair option.

seriously what the hell you guys why is anyone suggesting killing him

Rinzler will attend, but be both annoyed and underwhelmed by the entire situation. Threats get deleted. And if the admins valued Chara more (they are all users, no surprise there), why is Sans being left alive? Also, voting??? What is democracy what is restraint etc. etc. grumpy murdercat.

No vote from Rinzler's corner, and probably no actual commentary either, though he'll be watching to see how everyone else responds.

Danny will vote for category one, the minimum if he's allowed to stress that. He trusts Sans' judgement and thinks that if he did it, he must have had a really good reason. He won't be happy that someone died, but he won't ask Sans to explain himself.

No vote here either, because what the heck, this Chara person is a kid, and Ryan is a lot more concerned about kids apparently trying to kill people than any other part of this. Does this ship have some kind of rehabilitation system?? Because this kind of thing is a Problem.

(won't someone think of the murderchildren)

This ship just starts sounding more quarian all the time to Tali, goddamn. Not the random child-murder part, but giving everyone a platform for an opinion on other people's business, certainly.

Category 2 - it's seems like self-defence to her and she'd have totally done the same thing, but there should be some longer lasting punishment for killing somebody than just a few days in the hold. Even if the remarkably murderous dead child is going to come back.

She's also going to suggest that trying to kill somebody should at least get Chara a visit to the counsellor. They have one of those and everything!

Peter will vote Category 1. Murdering kids is pretty extreme but if its to protect family he can't really see the problem here.

Rick's gonna vote for Category 1 because the murder of a child ain't that bad and also he can show up and give Sans really bad jail puns

[Sans can't fault people for be upset. There are complications beyond what he's shared, but nevertheless. The leniency is surprising and kind of nice, even if he has no stake in this outcome either way.]

Andraste's dimpled cheeks (both pairs), they're voting on this shit. This is adorable. He feels like a Dalish elf...in space.

Category 1. Someone was going to die at the end of that and Sans shouldn't be punished for making sure it wasn't him. Also, he likes Sans and he doesn't operate on bias or anything like that at all.

Also Varric is not entirely aware Chara is going to come back. ohoho he's in for a surprise
